Palay Khan (Pashto: پا لے خان ) or Palay Shah Khosti belonged to the Khwastaye syed tribe of Zhob. He was a freedom fighter and chief of a freedom fighters' group, which fought against the British Raj, in 1930s, at Balochistan, Pakistan. Ethnically, he was syed Khosti, a tribe of Pashtun from Killi Dewal Khosti District Zhob of Baloshistan province, then the Baluchistan, a Commissionerate Province. The Baluchistan (Chief Commissioners Province) Khosti tribe migrated some two hundred years ago from Khost Afghanistan; for this reason they are called Khosti.
Palay Khan never surrendered in agreement between his group and the British Raj against some compensation in favour of the earlier. The British promised him that they would accept the tribal laws as the constitution and laws for his land, that was announced for Zhob, the main area of his struggle.
PTV Quetta Center produced a drama serial of 13 episodes on Palay Khan, Palay Shah as a tribute to his freedom movement. It was directed and produced by Sajjad Ahmad. The drama was shot 75% at the original locations in Balochistan. The role of Palay was played by Jamal Shah, and Palay's brother Katey Khan was portrayed by Hayatullah Khan Durrani. The rest of the cast included Sakina Samoo, Dr. Huma Meer, Orya Maqbool Jan, Amanullah Nasir, Rafiq Komboh, Hameed Sheikh. The serial was in Urdu but totally based on Pashtun culture. It was written with the assistance of the relatives of Palay Khan, living now in near Sinjavi district.
Bollywood made a movie Palay Khan, directed by Ashim Samanta and produced by Shakti Samanta. The movie is set in the time when the British ruled India. The whole of Hind was under their rule except for some small portion — mostly at the western side and in Pashtun areas, which always gave the Britishers a tough time. This land is protected by Palay Khan (Jackie Shroff) and his gang. General Barnes (Anupam Kher) orders Coloner Gulbaz Khan (Shakti Kapoor) — Palay's cousin who turned traitor — to capture Palay. But they realise that Palay Khan always is two steps ahead of them.
The rest of the cast includes Suresh Oberoi, Farah, Poonam Dhillon, Satyen Kappu, Bob Christo, Raza Murad, and Mac Mohan.
